What are we all about?

Our story

Butler’s Bus Service began in 1949 with nothing more than a pickup truck. By 1955, the company had purchased its first big yellow school bus, marking the beginning of its journey. By 1967, under the leadership of Arland Butler, the company had expanded to include a large garage and a fleet of 23 buses.

In 1994, after 27 years of steady growth, Arland sold the company to Judith Currier and Gerald Chapdelaine, both of whom had worked with him for two decades. They successfully led the company for 12 years, until Butler’s was acquired in July 2006 by John Lyskawa and Emo Chynoweth.

Today, Butler’s Bus Service operates a fleet of over 300 buses across six locations in New Hampshire (Barnstead, Milford, and North Haverhill) and Vermont (Lyndonville, Orleans, and White River Junction). Each location is fully equipped with maintenance services, dispatching, driver development, and onsite management to ensure smooth and reliable operations.

Part of the Beacon Mobility family

In 2025, Butler’s Bus Service joined the Beacon Mobility family of transportation companies.

Beacon Mobility companies bring critical special education, paratransit, non-emergency medical, and standard school transportation to communities in 25 states in the U.S. And we love what we do.

That’s because Beacon Mobility is, above all, a people-focused organization. We are a dedicated, passionate, and diverse group who pour our hearts and souls into caring for the precious cargo we transport every day.
